Our Mission

For many, agonizing over a mission statement might seem to be a pointless exercise. Many such statements, regardless of how well or poorly they are written, end up buried in church minutes, never to be heard from again. But how can any church fulfill God's purposes for it unless the people share a common sense of what those purposes are?

Here at First Baptist Church of Marshville, we believe that our church exists to share and live the Good News of God's kingdom by becoming a family of faith that worships God, grows in Christ and serves others.

About Our Logo

The Logo of First Baptist Church

The logo of First Baptist Church attempts to provide a visual representation of our mission:

The cross at the center represents the Good News that we are called to share and live: the Good News of the sacrificial love of God shown to us in Jesus Christ.

The group of figures suggests the "family of faith" that we are striving to become.

The figure with arms upraised signifies the lifting up of our hearts and our lives to God in worship.

The figure holding an open book points toward our commitment to grow in Christ by studying and applying God's word.

The figure holding a towel represents our call to "take up the towel" and serve others, just as Christ took a towel and served his disciples by washing their feet.
